Cardiff Metropolitan University has a rich history dating back to 1865, when the School of Art was established in the Old Free Library in Cardiff. Over the years, the institution has undergone numerous name changes, reflecting its evolving identity, and it became Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2011. The institution was previously known as the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (1996-2011), Cardiff Institute of Higher Education (1988-1996), and several other names dating back to its origins as the Cardiff School of Science & Art. Throughout its history, the university has maintained its commitment to practice-focused, professionally oriented education for students worldwide
