Aston University is a public research university located in Birmingham, England. Established in 1895 as the Birmingham Municipal Technical School and granted university status by royal charter in 1966, Aston is known for its industry-focused education, integrated placement year, and strong graduate employability—ranked in the top 10% of universities globally (QS 2025).

Founded in 1895 as the Birmingham Municipal Technical School, it became the College of Advanced Technology in 1956 and received its royal charter as a university in 1966. It pioneered the integrated placement year and continues to expand its urban campus in Birmingham city centre.
